Learning Opportunities
The community offers many different opportunities for learning and discovering about Judaism, in both formal and informal surroundings

FORMAL
Lectures
Guest speakers are invited to deliver lectures at regular intervals throughout the year on a variety of different topics, and the Synagogue has been privileged to host many leading speakers, well known internationally in both the Jewish and non-Jewish worlds.

Discussions
Before Pesach and Rosh Hashanah Rabbi and Mrs Davis lead discussion groups on various aspects of the coming festival.

Talmud Circle
Each semester Rabbi Davis leads a learning session every Wednesday evening based on the Steinsaltz edition of the Talmud.

Seminars
Occasionally the community presents a one-day learning seminar, during which the challenges of Jewish living are explored in their contemporary context by leading family educationalists. The community also encourages its members to attend the annual Encounter conference held in the centre each year where presentations can be heard by the leading Jewish thinkers of our age.

Explanatory services
Each year during the High Holidays the Synagogue offers an alternative explanatory service for those people who are interested in learning more about the meaning of the prayers they are saying on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The services are extremely popular, and places have to be reserved with the Synagogue office in advance.

INFORMAL
Synagogue services
During the winter months Rabbi Davis presents a talk on the weekly portion at the Friday evening service, and throughout the year on Shabbat afternoons Rabbi Davis presents a talk on aspects of religious observance.

Project Seed
Did you hate cheder as a child? Could you hardly wait to leave after your Barmitzvah?

Perhaps you don't come to Shul because your Hebrew reading holds you back from following the service.

Project Seed is a national outreach organisation which aims to support your learning and to answer your questions about being Jewish.

Every week in shuls all over the country, people learn with a partner. This partner builds an individual programme for you on any area of your choice.

No one will push you to be frum! They will support you to gain the knowledge to question and understand.

Ring the Chigwell and Hainault shul office if you would like to join this exciting programme.

Library
The shul has built up an extensive library on a wide range of topics of Jewish interests. Members are welcome to browse and borrow books during office hours.
